Frequently asked questions
A PMS is is a comprehensive and structured approach to maintaining and servicing all aspects of a yacht to ensure its proper functioning, safety, and longevity. It is a set of procedures, schedules, and documentation that yacht owners, operators, and crew follow to manage and track maintenance tasks for various systems and components on the yacht. A PMS helps to reduce operational costs, reduce risks of unexpected breakdowns and increase resale value.
There are many different software options out there to chose from. Some come from the shipping industry while others have been developed for the Yachting industry. The user interface vary from software to software so does the ease of operation. Pricing varies extremely based on the software but you can pay as little as 300€/year up to 6.000€/year. Privately operated Yachts are better off with simple solutions while commercial Yachts should be looking into software with fleet capabilities. We can help you to find the software solution that is most suitable for your needs and budget.
Data entry is unpredictable and each project is unique. The difficulty depends on the availability of information, the experience of the data entry professional to manage large data sets and time restrictions. On average, crew on operational yachts require 6-12 months to complete the data entry. Nevertheless, the quality of the database is variable and depends on the efforts, experience as well as time limitations. For new build projects, the delivery of the populated PMS corresponds with the delivery of the project, assuming Superyacht Data is involved at least 4 months before the vessel delivery. For operational Yachts, we require between 6 to 8 weeks depending on the vessel location and data availability.
